On Fire
I recently made these fire ball cake pops for a "We Survived the Fire Party". My client's home started on fire last year after it got struck by lightning, so they threw a party to celebrate surviving the fire.
These were so much fun to make!
The pops were made using red velvet cake so they had a fiery, red, colored center.

Back to School
It's that time of year again...back to school!
A "cake" made out of school supplies makes a perfect gift for your favorite student or teacher.
For another variation, check out the video on how to make a Pencil Cake on Parenting.com
For this project you will need the following supplies:
1 Circular Container
Pens/Pencils
2 Rubber bands
Erasers (yellow)
Paper Clips or Colored Rubber bands
Start by punching 3 holes in the bottom of a container. Place one pencil in each hole. These will be the candles on the cake. Wrap two rubber bands around the container.
Place pens or pencils underneath the two rubber bands to cover the entire circumference of the container.
On the top of the cake scatter colored paper clips or rubber bands for the frosting. Place yellow erasers on top of the pencils (candles) in the middle of the cake to create flames.
This cake will get anyone excited to go back to school!

Roulette Anyone?
I created cake pops and a cake pop display for a company casino themed boat
cruise on Lake Minnetonka. I created this roulette wheel in the company colors.
Like an actual roulette table, the wheel spun and lit up.
I made three flavors of cake pops; chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry.
To make the roulette table numbers, I used melted chocolate to write a number on a
candy melt which I then stuck to the top of the cake pops on the outermost circle.
The cake pops in the middle circle were covered with
sanding sugar to add a little sparkle to the display.

If you like Pina Coladas....
Try out these super cute Pina Colada cake pops. They are simple to create and are perfect for a summer soiree. Make cake pops as you normally would, but flatten the top side. Dip the cake pop in brown chocolate for the coconut shell. Use a toothpick while the chocolate is still warm to add some texture. Once the brown chocolate is dry, dip the top of the cake pop in some white chocolate and add sprinkles if desired. While the chocolate is still warm stick the top of a straw and a mini drink umbrella into the cake pop. For the full Pina Colada effect, make your cake pops using coconut cake and pineapple frosting!

Life's a Beach
This summer has been unseasonably hot! What better way to cool off than a beach inspired party.
I used a variety of beach gear to decorate the dessert table;
including towels, pool floaties, a cooler, pails, and shovels.
I found these giant shovels at Target, perfect for serving fruit.
Snow Cone Cupcakes.
Visit Bakerella's blog for instructions.
Pink Lemonade Cookies
I made cookie sandwiches by putting buttercream frosting between
two cookies and dipping the edges in sanding sugar.
Ice Cream Cones.
Who doesn't love an ice cream cone on a hot, sunny day!
Ice cold drinks to beat the heat!
Gumballs
Crab Cake Pops
I used Swedish Fish for the claws and found the eyes
in the cake supply section at Michaels.
Treat your guests to "beach ball" goodie bags.
Fill them with summer goodies; squirt guns, water balloons, leis, and candy.

My Best Friend's Wedding
My best friend married the love of her life earlier this month and I had the honor of not only being in her wedding, but making approximately 250 cake pops for the reception. It was definitely the largest baking task that I have taken on, but went suprisingly well. Luckily, I had my mom to help with the cake pop making. Love you mom! We made three different flavors of cake pops; Chocolate, Vanilla, and Carrot Cake. The groom's uncle made the amazing, tiered stand to display the cake pops.
